Arrests and Recovery of Arms
Separately, on May 18, a shooting at an open camp in Pahalgam wounded a couple of tourists from Jaipur, Rajasthan. While in the area, militants targeted the victims, Farha Jan and Tabrez Ahmad. They were both hospitalized after suffering injuries. Indian security forces conducted massive operations to capture the attackers in response to the Pahalgam terror attacks.

The Pahalgam terror attacks are heinous, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, and he pledged to hold those responsible accountable. India had also suspended the Indus Waters treaty and closed the only land border crossing with Pakistan, giving ties between the two countries a diplomatic downgrade. The international community and the United States denied that Pakistan was involved.
International Response
India is supported by China and the UK. But the fear the attacks have wrought in visitors and their residents alike has upset the tourism sector, which rebounded in recent years. Many Kashmiris are supporting the victims of the violence while demanding to know who was behind the three assaults, amid the ongoing inquiries.
The sad circumstances surrounding the incident highlight how difficult it is to build and maintain regional peace and security. Such atrocities must be stopped and the community working in tandem with security forces and governmental organizations must create a safe environment for everyone.
